STUDENT - METAL FAB TRADE INTERACTIVE LEARNING & INSTRUCTION

My name is Dean, and when I was a student i was lost in career path options, so i know exactly how difficult it can be for a Year 10+ High School Student to know exactly what career path to invest in, or what trade best suits them.  To remedy this, in 2020, I created an opportunity that has allowed parents and their student child to interact in our workplace and try the trade for a day or more.

This opportunity has been held in high regard by the parents of each student as it also gave them highly specialised work experience that they used to sure up the opportunity to be accepted into the Year 11-12 EQUIP Certificate II in  Engineering Pathways.

I have proudly assisted several high school students to sure up their career path choices by simply providing an opportunity for them (with or without their parents) to complete some non-accredited skills training relevant to the Engineering - Metal Fabrication Career Pathway.

At Industry Skills Compliance, we provide students with a safe & controlled environment where each student gets the opportunity of interactive & instructional learning within a light metal fabrication & welding workshop.

After each student training session, the students each recieve an Industry Skills Compliance – Specialist Learning & Development Record, which is specific to the activities they perform during each session.

As an experienced and passionate instructor, I believe in an approach that gives students positive, constructive ways to learn. I design each of the interactive learning sessions according to my students’ desires or needs, with an emphasis on confidence-boosting activities and introducing new skills or challenges.

As a casual trades training teacher at the CQU, in Gladstone since 2021, I’ve gained additional skills to help students learn and excel. Take advantage of the vast professional experience I bring. Get in touch today to find out more and to reserve your spot during upcoming school holidays.

Braith Apprentice.jpg

Couldn’t recommend this experience enough!

18 months ago, our young man, then 15, made the decision he wanted to be a Boiler Maker.  So, we set out on a path to make this happen, completing work experience through school and a local business 1 day a week.

Whilst the work experience was fantastic, Braith wanted more.  He wanted to learn everything from the basics of welding to eventually securing an apprenticeship.

This is when we came across Dean and the team at Industry Skills Compliance.

Braith didn’t have a great deal of welding or fabrication experience under his belt, but this didn’t matter as Industry Skills Compliance gave him that.

Dean taught Braith the skills and techniques any beginner should know and has helped him improve and better his skill set each time he goes for training.  Braith says he is always learning new things there and its exciting.

ISC have really thought of everything when it comes to helping our youth get experience. The facility is excellently equipped with everything Braith needed to get him started. ISC also provided feedback in the way of photos, videos, and written reference (report) for his resume.

The professionalism and communication of this company goes above and beyond what we expected.

We can now proudly say that we officially as of 1pm 10th May 2022, we have an apprentice in the family, and the learnings and experiences Braith received from Industry Skills Compliance made a huge impact on Braith and his future. We are so grateful to have found ISC.

So, If you want your son or daughter to stand out from others applying for a Boily Apprenticeship I would highly suggest Dean and the team at Industry Skills Compliance NOW!

Will Neighbor
Gladstone High School Student

14 March 2022

I would certainly recommend this course for anyone who is interested in learning how to weld and the easy steps on how to operate machinery in a workshop, with the time i spent there it has helped me build up my confidence with workshop tools including a welder and the different techniques, using an oxy cutter and a bandsaw. Dean looked at the way I learnt making sure I had completed my tasks and helping increase my knowledge and skill set in a productive way while remaining focussed on the safety aspect.
highly recommend. I am keen to go back and further my knowledge with Dean.
